Department of Physiology
The term "Physiology" literally means "Knowledge of Nature" and is defined in dictionaries as the "science of the normal functions and phenomenon of living things". Physiology is an integrative science that examines function at every level of organic complexity from molecules and cells to intact organisms.
Each type of life from the simple virus to the largest tree or the complicated human being has its own functional characteristics. In human physiology, an attempt is made to explain the specific characteristics and mechanisms of human body that make a living being. The great beauty of physiology is that it integrates the individual functions of body's different cells, tissues and organs into a functional whole, the human body.
Physiology conveys the majesty of the human body andits many functions. Physiology forms the link between the basic sciences and medicine. The Department of Physiology is situated at the ground floor of IM&DC adjacent to the college library. Besides offices, conference room, demonstration room, it has a spacious and well equipped laboratory. Its faculty comprises one Professor, three Assistant Professors & six Lecturers.
